What is NIHC?

The National Industrial HEMP Council (NIHC) promotes the markets for HEMP and Cannabis materials.  Their mission is essential: to right the wrong through educating businesses and consumers on the benefits of hemp products.  Their work is to develop new markets.

The Global Hemp Industry has been growing steadily. NIHC’s development is focused on new uses for Hemp in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. This expansion will require NIHC to engage with experts, designers, manufacturing leaders, and governments to promote hemp production.

What are A2LA and NIHC doing together?

In October 2023, the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) announced a partnership with the NIHC to offer a mutual recognition accreditation program to the Hemp and Cannabis Testing Laboratories in the United States.

The International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), approved this accreditation and the program.

The Vice President of A2LA, Trace McInturff, gave this statement. A2LA is very pleased to partner with NIHC to set and raise the bar for quality and technical competence of hemp testing laboratories to the NIHC stakeholders. This is truly a unique program that offers hemp labs recognition from both of these important organizations, which will inspire confidence in the quality of their test results while ensuring consumer safety.

NIHC made this statement. “We are excited to work side-by-side with the experts at A2LA in this collaborative effort to offer our members new avenues for accreditation, especially at this critical time when lab reliability is at the forefront of product quality,” said Patrick Atagi, President of NIHC. “A2LA has a long history of facilitating safety through accreditation, and the NIHC team is proud to be a part of this safety-driven cooperation.
